Subject: [diesel_mercedes] Modern E320D???
Nate and I have another (middle) brother, who stayed in New England, rather than heading for the western frontier and the glammer of LaLa land. He's worked at MIT for years.
Was planning to retire. Bought a farm on the coast of main, started commuting back and forth, several days a week to MIT. Driving a Ford F-250 with a powerstroke, fuel hog V-8.
Then he got a new gig at MIT and the commuting is going longer than he ever expected. Say's he's getting 17 mpg.
He's suddenly stumbled onto a 1999, E320D with less than 100,000 miles. He wants to go look at it. Expects that on the freeways to and from Maine, he would do better than 32 mpg.
This is way newer than any I have ever worked on. Does anyone out there have suggestions for what to look at on a 1999 E class diesel?
Tom
