There is no joy in vacuum pumps , they plain suck .
FWIW ,the correct torque of any screw on any German Vehicle , will render if vibration proof and when you loosen it for the fist time since initial assembly or after repairs including the correct , ' Just So ' torque , you'll both feel & hear a "click " sound as it begins to turn .
This means you must always use correctly fitting tools and clean the screw slots before applying turning force , often it's just a matter of applying the correct amount of force for a moment then it'll go "cick " and back out easily after that .
Germans , weird & wonderful Engineers , I wish they'd share these trade secrets more often .
I see the later model OM617 engines come with allen headed socket screws from the factory *but* if you fail to clean out the accumulated crud , they'll strip easily , just like the slotted Cheese headed screws on the older ones .
