OK
I took off the rear tire today and took a close look at it. Besides the tread being low it looked fine. The tires do have some miles on them and probably need replacing.
Before i took the tire off i rotated it several times, there was no unusual noises. No clicking or clunking it turned smooth and easily.
I switch the front and back tires and went for a drive. I was on the freeway for about 2 miles, nothing.
Could a tire that looks fine make that thumping noise when it gets hot? I think the noise did not start before until i was at freeway speeds for a half an hour.
Could it be something other then a tire if it only happens when it's been driven fast for awhile.
Should i just go get new tires?
My 300D is making a loud thumping noise from the right rear of the car. It first started on the free way. When i pulled off the road to look under the car there was nothing amiss. When i got back on the road the noise took awhile to start back up again. The back right CV boot does have some grease on it but the boot it self is in good shape. Also it's not a clicking sound like you hear from the front CV joint it's more of a thumping sound.any ideasThanks
