I transported a 300sd from DC to SF last year for 900. I did some research and am not surprised on the extra mileage. A lot of them are just brokers with a website where they charge you, nickle diming everything, giving you 'premium' services like putting your car in front etc. The actual work is done by a lot of indy's. The bigger cos like the german sounding one are no better, dumping your car at 'depots' for pickups by another truck, loading and unloading multiple times.
My car made it safe, just because the indy guy who picked it up was very cool.
1984 300sd 260+ miles
