I've put a lot of money into my '92 300D, more than I could possibly recoup in a sale. I expect I'll do the same with the '86 190D I just acquired. What that gets me is a pair of cars that are timeless in looks, reliable as a hammer and get 36 and 41mpg highway. Best of all, they're paid for; the sleazeball bankers aren't getting any interest money from me and over the long haul, I'll spend a lot less on cars. I'd like to think someone would gives these old ladies a home when I'm gone in 20 years.
