"Locked up heater box" is a term and condition I've never heard of nor encountered. (Only been working on cars for 35-years, though....) What does this mean, and how was this diagnosis determined?
Generally, one only needs to access the heater core if it's leaking or has low or no heat output (because it's plugged up for some reason).

Subject: Re: [diesel_mercedes] Heater box?
I recently added an '86 190D 5 speed to my fleet and while it looks and runs good, it has some climate control issues apparently due to a locked up heater box. The price for a new one is obscenely high and getting one from a PAP seems unlikely in terms of finding one locally or getting one removed and shipped. Any insights?
