Re: [diesel_mercedes] 300SD

I suspect how many times per day, per week, per month, per year, you start your car + whether the temps are 80F or 5F play a part in longevity. I like 5 years as a target to shoot for.

Em.. What is the life expectancy of a set of glow plugs?  The ones in my 240D are about five year old, that being about as long as I've had the car...

My good friend - if your glow plugs are 6 - 8 years old, they have long passed their death date. But, let us know what you think of your Beru's and what price you get.

The rain and snow have stopped the ground is firm enough to start work, weeds growing about tire high..

Pulled all the glow plugs and tested them. 3 dead. When I installed the engine in this thing, 6 or 8 years ago, I bought a 4 pack of Bosch glo plugs, retained one of the old Berus. Three of the "new" Bosch dead, the old Beru still working. Lesson learned.

I guess my measuring the installed plugs was done wrong. Will install a new set of Berus and the old relay, see how that works.... Who has the best price on glow plugs now?

TIA
