I too like a clean under carriage but I've seen up close & personal the damage done by steam cleaning & pressure washing so now a days I cold wash it using de greaser and a brush then my garden hose .
Once water gets forced into places it sghouldn't be , by the time you realize there's a problem , you're in for some hard work and serious $ .
When I lived Down East , many of the coil operated car washes had an undercarriage rinse off feature , we used that to remove the salty crud buildup all winter long .

Anyway, I see these bright shiny nuts and bolts and cables and hoses, and I say to myself, "wow, my bottom is sure clean since it was steam cleaned or power washed, whatever they did. Now that I had it done, I will pay more attention next time around. Did not see any visible damage, on balance I would do it again. That was the first time in 15-20 years that I know of.
