[diesel_mercedes] Re: Whoops- different trannys

I haven't taken the torque converter off yet, so thanks for the heads up on that. I finished pulling the first tranny last night and seem to remember that the output shaft of the transmission had spindles- but now that I'm thinking on it more- I only took one look and it was late and I had to pack up and go. Now all of a sudden I'm thinking the torque converter stayed on the flywheel on the first transmission, and stayed with the tranny on the second transmission, so that looking quickly one would looked spindled, or geared, and the other because of the torque converter, just have the nub that fits into the flywheel. Ok then- I'm back on track. Feeling just a little dumb. You all can erase this post if you like, but if it's still up and all goes well tomorrow I'll confirm.
Thanks
Mike

In reality I've let them slip off a time or two and no obvious adverse consequences. Also, I don't know what you mean by "spindles" vs. "smooth nub". Which end of the tranny are you referring to by that. The output shaft should have one of those round rubber guibo connectors. Can you be more specific.
