[diesel_mercedes] Glass Damage

More than you'd think ~

Here in Cali. , they're overwhelmed by budgetary constraints and crumbling roads so there's as much gravel and sand on our roads as , say , Michigan in April before all the winter sand & pea gravel gets run off....

My son just bought a Subaru WRX Station Wagon and already one fog lamp got shattered ~ the dealer wants $200 + _each_ , he was able to find a pair OnLine gently used (look new) for $40 , he installed it last night in 5 minutes .

Yes , he broken lamp had that nifty clear plastic anti-shatter film on it , the lens shattered but didn't fall off the car , it just hung down.

We also have blowing sand issues , even in town and German glass is *very* soft so many older German cars that are parked outside , even the In Town ones , have badly pitted windshields , my '84 Coupe is like this , I am considering experimenting with polishing it using glass lens polish , I already reduced the glaring million pin points of light greatly by repeated application of Rain-X but this windshield
is ruined , having a start crack in it already so why not experiment.

> Rock cracks? Up here they dump rocks and sand on the roads all winter, really
kills headlights and windshields. Good for business tho. Max
