For Mark: There are several tutorials on the internet for replacing the
Mercedes relay completely. I haven't done this with my 240D but did do
it with my 1981 VW 1.6 diesel. It basically involves buying an old Ford
starter relay probably rated at 50 amps. I also bought a cheap "fuse
block" that held four 30 amp "blade fuses" with separate terminals for
each glow plug. Some folks put in a separate "momentary" push button
switch to activate the solenoid. Not sure of the circuitry if you use
the key switch to activate.

There's a metal tag on it that will tell you if it's a 722 or other series, this is important .

You are going to think I am nuts. The last thing you want to hear is a "Spectrum"-like solution.

Boot it.

Disconnect the battery for a few seconds then reconnect. Seriously. I have an 86 300sd. with 250K miles. I always try this when I have pulled out most of my hair searching some weird problem.

Mercedes-Benz DTM to shift focus to Formula E

Earlier this year they announced that their final year of racing in DTM will be 2018, which they've consistently been running in for 30 years.
