Yup.  Thermostat housing, anyway.

The clearance between nozzles is maybe a quarter of an inch.  How the heck do you get the hose on?  Must the thermostat come out? Lawrence Rhodes

It's possible it's not the B2, but here's the best article I know of on the subject:

Thanks Mark,

I'll look up the details on the b2 symptoms, and talk to my guy.
I doubt the b2 has been replaced, yet when I asked if my earlier
problems were related to b2 at the time, the guy said no.
If I remember correctly, the b2 deals with the 1-2 shift, and other
parts deal with the 2-3, 3-4 shifts

Can you wrap it with tape and put a wide hose clamp on it where the ¼-inch gap is?  Bill in Oregon

Re: [diesel_mercedes] Not so cheap fixes

I got tired of t-bracket replacement and fabricated a heavier one out of flat steel bar.

We got stung on some stuff, and did OK on other stuff, but overall my wife is happy, and that is priceless. First, all of the front end bushings, joints, mounts, arms got replaced. Second, the rear axles got replaced. Third, new shocks all the way around. Fourth, that drivers seat that kept wiggling got tightened down, and the broken air canister t-bar got replaced.

Yes, I could have done it all for half price but it would have taken weeks of my time. Maybe I am just too old and tired to do the heavy lifting anymore, or just too lazy, but again, the tipping point here is that "my wife is happy" and that makes my life more peaceful. Now, it is time for me to get my bones in action to do a little work on Mary (air cleaner and t-bracket replacement).

Happy wife = happy life.  Messing with the suspension of any car is a big pain.

My 49 Ford needs a complete front end rebuild, new shocks were a band aid.

Glad to see that you got things squared away, hopefully many more miles of smiles

driving.

I used to be able to do it all; now I sit back and help the economy by paying someone else. Some of the work is quite affordable given the time and dirt I suffered 30 years ago.  Bill in Oregon

My trans guy was not too impressed with my B-2 knowledge either. Said he rarely saw that failure anymore, but rather the bands and plates were the culprits. ps - he was right in my case.
