[diesel_mercedes] sunroof diagnosis

 

Took the non-closing sunroof apart today.  Pulled the cable which was in
great shape.  Pulled the motor and found the large fiber gear worn
almost flat in the critical area for closing.  Will need to source a new
one (new ones aren't available).  There are some after market ones being
manufactured in Turkey on ebay at a reasonable price.  Either that or a
used one.

There is a gear available for the W124 opener that "looks" identical but
no claim is made that it would fit a 123.  Anyone know anything about
compatibility.
