[diesel_mercedes] Weekend Foolishness [3 Attachments]

That was fun and went well for the most part .

I went on a spirited Road Rally with a bunch of other idiots , I drove Shirley's clapped out 1982 240D with it's worn out engine, slippy automatic tranny and collapsing driver's seat .

We went up through the mountains and deserts , having fun all the way .

The first two pix were taken @ 9,110 feet elevation in the Sierra Nevada Mountains .

The last pic. is of the fuel filler cap gasket failure ~ I am not sure how old it is but it began to leak on this trip, spilling oily Diesel fuel all over the flank of the car where it collected road dust....*#-o d'oh! .

Even with the fuel loss and me having to keep the throttle pinned most of the time I got 24.3 MPG's .

Lots of Significant Others and Kids came along this time ~ one of these days I'll have to bring along some of my Foster boys, see if they like it  .

Greetings from Ridgecrest, Ca. ! it's 57* F here, light wind and no smog etc.

Attached is the route sheet and info for the Road Rally I'm on this weekend .

Too bad I can't get more of you alls to join me, we're having a wonderful time ~ the Desert is cool and clean, fresh air , open roads, friendly happy people .

The poor old Mercedes Diesel is having the heck of  a time going up hills but somehow I still managed to beat everyone else to the Motel yesterday , go figure .

Maybe you'll join us next Spring ? .
