[diesel_mercedes] Idiotry

 

Saturday 8/15 we set heat records in So. Cal. so naturally I was out there working on my beloved Diesel Sports Coupe......


I began by doing a routine valve adjust , easy to do because I still had the fuel injectors out for pop testing .


I kinda go lost in the ' might as wells ' and after four or five brutal hours the engine lit off and settled into the smooth idle we all know and expect .


Vastly less smoking now , the off idle power is still too soft but it easily reached 95 MPH @ 1/2 throttle this morning and was still accelerating  .


I'm hoping the fuel economy improves too .


Has anyone ever touched the EGR valve ? .  I'm wondering if it's stuck open or leaking a bit .

The two times I hit the brakes and nothing happened, it was not cold. I better replace this thing one of these days. Max

In Commercial Service , you always know when Fall arrives as so do the multitude of failed Master Cylinders ~

cold most definitely affects them .


Not the calipers etc. but internal by passing of the fluid .
