Re: [diesel_mercedes] Digest Number 6022
I did change the voltage regulator, yet noticed the one I removed still
looked fine.

It may not be your problem but look at the voltage regulator. It can be
removed with the alternator in place! The biggest problem that I have
found with the alternators is brush wear on the regulator. The best
replacement is Bosh, but others will work as well. They are readily
available online.

[diesel_mercedes] Re: charging system more woes
Well I took it to a real alternator rebuild shop. It failed the test. I have no idea why it failed that test and passed with 14.4 volts the day before at O'Reilly's.
I am having them reman it because it is cheaper even than a store brand and even those store brands usually don't come with a fan.
There is continuity on the connections to the battery too.
Like I said I do not know how it could have passed that one test with flying colors.
