Hit a junk yard today; Twin Lakes on 310, not a PAP. They had ONE MB like mine but it was already crushed with a car under it and several on top! We did manage to get a cable & fog light for $20.

Where is the pap you use located?

Last week we went over off of Second Ave to LKQ aka Atomic.

Do they have MBZ's with parts still attached?

They had several cars with some parts. Depends on what year you're looking for.

There was another guy "TJ" we found on Craigs List, off of Lake June Rd & 635, that had a car lot with several MBZ on it. Some were parts cars, some were for sale, the ONE I liked of course wasn't for sale!

[diesel_mercedes] Tool-fest at Sears...I'm gearing up!

 

Turns out Sears was having a big ole sale this week (ends tomorrow) and I had xmas cash in my wallet. As some of you have figured out by now, I'm SO new at this, I barely even have basic tools...been borrowing a friend's "basic mechanic's tool" set for a while, but he needed it back. I used to have tools, but long ago in Boston someone busted into my car and took 'em.

So I snagged me a 194-pc craftsman set, and rounded out with a few ultra basics like a 4-pack of different pliers (I need my own dikes, ya know!) and a plain jane utility knife. I also picked up a 22mm combo wrench so I can get to my darn valve adjustment!!!

We've had some warmer weather here...40's (even 50+ yesterday)...but I've been working (yay work!) a lot this week...tomorrow might be the day!

I'll also check the one (????) pawn shop in Santa Fe for other tools...I still need a vacuum pump (tho they have those to loan at the McParts places), torque wrench (same), and I'm hoping to take some of my xmas cash to PaPs here and in ABQ (which I've heard, have MBZ's that have been barely picked!). Bet the pawn shops are better there too ;)

Valve adjustment....here I come. (Can you tell I am psyching myself up?)
