[diesel_mercedes] help

 

OK, after having my spare 240 with the auto for a long time and not driving it much and it never failed, well, its been failing. The latest thing is it wont start. When I turn the key nothing, zip, no click no nothing. I checked the voltage it seems fine. What do I do? I've had several starters go out and I get plenty of notice. Between getting  firewood, rototilling, lawn mowing, finishing my house, cleaning out my shop so I can finish my house, I dont have time for this, good thing its my #3 car, but I do like to keep it running. I really need to sell it. Any advice? Max

Thats what I thought. While living in Oregon in the 70's I did not notice much in the way of rusty cars. Living in NE Washington we see cars from Montana, rusted out. Max

Rust is caused by salt.  Not water but in combination with salt it's a death sentence for steel cars. West Coast cars within a mile of the beach are most suspect.  However most west coast cars are rust free.  This is why used cars are cheaper on the West Coast than the East Coast. Lots of cars still running after many years. Everything rusts East of the Mississippi.  So if you are in a di-icing area expect short life cycle of your steel vehicle.  Water?  Nate what are you thinking?  Lawrence Rhodes
