This group provides a forum for owners and operators of diesel powered motorhomes and 5th wheel tractors to discuss mechanical issues, regulatory issues (US, Canada), ownership, insurance, campground accommodations, trip reports/suggestions, and other topics relevant to large RVs and the people who drive them.
I find that a good billowing "smoke" while entering freeway traffic tends to make space behind me as cars slow down assuming that I am blowing a valve.

The damned exhaust smoking is back ~ not every moment but I was in traffic yesterday and several times had to accelerate rapidly to get into traffic and I saw the dang plume trailing behind me again......
I've been busy so not yet checked the IP timing , I really need to do that and if it still smokes , try the replacement IP I bought .
This is maddening .
