[diesel_mercedes] Alternator not working. Back to square 1.

 

No charging.  Battery light & brake light on when driving.  I guess I'll take the alternator out and have it tested.  How many ways can an alternator fail if it has a new regulator/brush combo?  Voting against the wires and for the alternator being bad.  Lawrence Rhodes

[diesel_mercedes] Got tester... but major problem.

 

Blew the fuse to the cig lighter with multi tester probe..  Replaced fuse.  Start car after charging..  Glows drain battery under 12v.  Now no charging.  Battery & brake light on.  12.6v now while running.  Back on charger.  Took Honda.   Sigh........Lawrence Rhodes
