[diesel_mercedes] Need guide rod for 1984 300SD

 

Hi,


I'm not having any luck undoing the guide rod mount from the guide rod on my 84 300SD. Tried PBBlaster, Kroil and a lot of heat. It won't budge. I thought the path of least resistance here would be to just get a new guide rod. I've tried ordering from the usual suspects but apparently it's "no longer available". Anybody have a used one or can Tom Hanson find one at MB?

Almost ALL things rubber are made in Malaysia or Thailand or wherever rubber trees abound. Having replaced my two front windows a few years ago, I would just pick a reputable insurance body shop to make the installation as they will stand behind their work. If you are going to go the DIY route, then go dealer or Classic Center.
