Re: [diesel_mercedes] Voltage to monovalve - how does it work?

Possibly related to the problem, though not the monovalve itself, is the
temp sensor in the dash. When mine broke, from me messing around under
the dash, the A/C system only worked at MAX, as the sensor wasn't
sending info. I got a replacement from Brian's rust bucket, and it's
been fine ever since.

Checked the voltage to monovalve using different settings, it gets full battery power (13.x volts) on max cold in a/c and economy settings, and virtually no power anywhere else. I did notice some 6 - 7 volt readings in the center temp settings when I first started the car up but after it warmed up it would only send voltage on max cold setting. It was not sending voltage even when set to the coldest setting just before the max detent. I don't know if there is a delay or what. Anyone know how the voltage to the monovalves is supposed to work?

Re: [diesel_mercedes] Fuel Milage Check '82 240D Auto AC Used

 Nate,

I know you are fond of the W123 diesels, I loved my  84 300CD, but have you considered one of the W124s?  Prices appear to be about the same now (at least here in Northeast) as the remaining decent W123s are not going cheap and the W124s are more plentiful and coming down in price.  I'm on my 2nd one, a 1991 300D with 277K.  Fuel mileage is consistently closer to 30MPG, last tank of B20 came out at 30.13mpg on a run up to Boston and back.  Even mixed driving it only drops to around 28-29mpg.  repairs and parts are reasonable as well.

SWMBO driving , 21.5 MPG , 193 miles , not bad for a car with 328,000 + miles on it .
