[diesel_mercedes] '85 sd driveline in '91 SDL?

 

I know the '85 driveline is different than my '84.. (something transmission related) Was it a "transistion" to the 6 cyl that they started doling out the next year??

After my '84 is rebuilt, I have to "come to a plan" with my '85 300SD.

Runs great, starts on the first cue, even after sitting for a month in the dead of winter..

...but it's a total rustbucket.

Obviously there aren't pictures, but if an "easy" driveline swap can be accomplished, this may be worth my dime..

Oh O.k. I did not see the 2.Thats good 28.5.I'm all out of wvo and am burning diesel.I won't go back to wvo,to much mess,however will run small amounts wmo in the winter to boost btus.Temporaley ran propane last week.Felt like I was driving my S.Still need alot of hose and a hobbs switch to make propane injection permanite.I will use a hobbs boost switch set at 10 psi.

O.K., this last tankful went 422 miles and returned 28.5 MPG .

4 Oz. MMO used, some AC use (the Wx. has been really wierd) , several seriously fast 0-Dark:30 speed runs on the freeway just because , blah blah blah .

It still smokes too much (leaves Diesel smoot on the trunk lid), one of these days I _will_ yank the injectors & pop test them , I have a possible lead on an affordable homade pop tester .
