The fan is blowing strong, but right now the problem is the vent door to blow out the lower vents out the console above the radio.......It goes PLOP and starts blowing out the defrost vents, and appears to be vacuum related.
The air is cold, system seems to be working but I am scared to death of changing the buttons at all for fear of having the system stop. so I just change blower speeds and enjoy the meat locker approach.
That's a;; I have for now, I guess I will save some money for a new/rebuilt Klima......sigh

FWIW , if you have any burnt out wiring (doubtful but it occasionally happens) the fan motor is almost certainly the culprit so remove it and test it , replace as necessary before you fry the rebuilt pushbutton control .
90 + % of the time , intermittent blowing of air (hot or cold) is caused by a worn out fan , they're now cheap @ $100 brandy new .
IIRC , your W-126's fan motor brushes can be easily replaced and Mercedes Source in Bellingham , Wa. sells a $100 (+/-) kit with instructions to do so .
