Re: [diesel_mercedes] Re: vcv valve

Huh.  OK.  Just never heard the term before in relation to MB's.  (The last time I used "VCV" was when I worked for a freight forwarding company.  It's the IATA code for the Victorville Airport.)

I'm still not sure just what the "VCV" is.  Mr. Bergsma's video is interesting to watch, but I've yet to install an audio card on this Hackintosh.  Too bad he doesn't have subtitles for the audio-impaired.

(Wonder what he's doing with the 170's that're in the background....)

Thanks Chip!

Mark,

VCV is Vacuum Control Valve. I learned about this last night from a video that is posted on MercedesSource. Title of video is Introduction to Troubleshooting Mercedes Diesel Transmissions. Here is the link: https://mercedessource.com/node/8573

Re: [diesel_mercedes] Re: 300SD

There's a third bushing; it's the one in the console, where the shift lever actually mounts and pivots.  It probably very rarely goes out, but, on my '79 SD, it was trashed, and my shifter was super sloppy.

The bushings are under the car, one at the bottom of the shifter, the
other on the tranny.
As always, when underneath, use jack stands, not just the jack.

As far as I'm concerned the diesel noise is one of the sweetest sounds.  I see no reason to pad the hood.

[diesel_mercedes] Re: Orphan Black Vacuum Line Hanging Under My Dash

This is very helpful Nate. My black orphan under the hood is connected into the vacuum spider under the hood. I am much less sure how to find "that other vacuum storage" behind my fender or where the black line might plug in.

I have never seen a vacuum diagram under the hood, but will now look much more carefully. It would be wonderful if I find that and begin to understand where all of these lines are to be attached.

Thanks for the help.
