You do not start or stop the diesel on veggie.  You can and maybe brake a piston.  The oil does not have the proper viscosity to fire unless it is 100 degrees out.  It is really important that you do a lot of study before you run other fuels in such a great engine.  My mechanic runs his MB diesel on used motor oil cut with kerosene.  Works fine

Did you start and stop it on veg, or did you start and diesel and warm it first before switching to veg, and then purge back to diesel before shutting down/cooling?
