We get just a little black smoke at start up, which is pretty unusual in big engines, I am used to seeing some white smoke until the engine is warm enough to burn all the fuel. Black smoke usually indicates carbon and shows up when the engine is working hard especially at lower revs.
I suspect that it is emission control related, do these lil darlins have EGR valves?
Also Once there is any warmth in the eng no problem but for the first 2 or 3 minutes in the morning the car does not have enough power to pull the skin of a rice pudding.
