[diesel_mercedes] Re: [126diesel] RE: Thanksgiving Repor

In 1969 I was still in New Hampshire ~ I didn't move West until the Fall of 1970 ~ i still have my High School I.D. card =8-) .

We dug a pit and lined it with coals, took a bunch of us (maybe 6) to set the tub on top of the coals then the pig went in and was covered , the whole mess was buried again and dug up when it was finished cooking .

My beloved 1984 300CD Diesel Sports Coupe has been mostly sitting since September so I decided to drive it out to Johnson Valley, Ca. to visit my Son who'd gone out there in his motor home with this buddies and invited me to join them . Pic. # 1

Arriving I found Zach already had the pig roasting . Pic. # 2

As the day went on everyone chipped in to help maintain the fire, inject tasty liquid spices, so on and so forth Pic. # 3

After close to 12 hours the meat was nearly falling off the bones at it rotated, a thermometer was used to ensure proper temperature had been reached throughout and it was cut up and we had quite the feast ! . lots of ancillaries were provided, everyone ate and drank like Royalty, the little kids have much fun too, SMORES were had for desert . Pic. # 4

After eating I snoozed in a chair for a bit then joined the various Families around the campfire with the Children running to and fro, everyone talking about what they were thankful for .

Both going and returning the traffic went along at a pretty good clip ~ on the two lane winding highway I didn't exceed 72 MPH, I followed some guy in a Jeep to get better long distance view .

Reaching the I-15 Freeway the pace picked up to 79 MPH, I saw no collisions nor drunken driver stops by Police .

Arriving back in the San Gabriel Valley I stopped by my Son's place and few his dogs then went home to feed mine and do some works in the dark getting ready for to - day's work .

All in all another nice quiet if mileage intensive holiday , makes me glad to be alive and seeing so many young families doing O.K. is good too .

Re: [diesel_mercedes] Reconditioned W123 Dashboards!

Looks pretty good from the photos.  The price is about what I often pay for whole, running cars, but, for the complete restoration, it's not far out of line.

Someone from this list will have to take the jump.  I don't have a W123....
