[diesel_mercedes] CJ7 / 240D injector questions [1 Attachment]

So I got a gauge for my injector tester and boy were they mismatched. 2 were virtually identical at 1850 psi with a good pop and fog spray - no stream no matter what i did. It was a fog spray or nothing. Of the other 2, 1 was foging at 1500 psi and the other one was mostly peeing unless I pushed really hard. So I got all 6 of my "good" spares out and checked them. I found 2 more that matched the 1850 psi pop/spray. Those 4 were installed and WOWSERISOS - I could tell the difference backing the rig out of the garage. Also I don't know how accurate my new gauge is but I am sure I have a "matched and balanced" set in the engine now. So question #1: Just how important is the 1950 pop pressure? Obviously balance is better than imbalance. But is 50 or 100 psi that critical up at those pressures?

Of the 6 "new" spares several of them pop at near 1800 psi but I can, if I am very careful, get them to pee a stream. They will pop and spray if I push hard enough, but they will also emit a stream if I am careful in pushing "just enough". One pops at 1950 but it is too easy to get it to stream instead of spray. Am I right in believing that it should be a pop/spray at pressure or nothing?

Thanks in advance,
Bogy.
