This is really an important annual tune - up service .

I got a nice glass jug from the .99 CENTS Store and use a clear plastic paper element filter in the return hose as I don't want any crud that comes loose (and a lot will) going back into the jug to get sucked back into the fuel system .

FWIW , I have cheated and used any old free " Fuel System Cleaner " I got for free , most of it said ' for use in Diesel Systems ' some where on the label .

My glass jug is big so I can set it up and drive to work and back , really giving it a good cleaning ~ these are 30 year old machines and need careful maintenance if you want them to be top shelf .

The first thing I would try before messing with the injectors directly is to perform the Diesel Purge treatment.  This should be done every so often on any and all mechanical injection diesels, maybe once a year, like a tune-up.  Remember: It's not an additive, but a treatment.  This is the correct procedure:
