Yes - you can rebuild mine while you are at it. I need to take my air canister off and redo the nuts and bolts so will check the turbo blades while I am down there. But, I have never been happy with Mary's turbo since the engine got changed out, and I know I have an ongoing oil leak that needs to be cured. BTW - only one w123 in the Ontario PAP. Things are getting slim. This week I will put 4 muffler hangers (with chains) on Mary, 2 right door striker plates on, 1 new left rear door check on Martha, and 1 new hood pad on Mary. Done all this before so it is just a case of getting excited enough to roll out the door and take care of business.

I suppose I shouldn't mention my method of discerning what the fluid is...

Knowing that helps tell you where to look .

Adding fluids with out checking the level first is the # 1 way to blow seals and cause serious leaks .

If it's dead black engine oil , look at the various veting tubes and rubbers , see if the air cleaner mounts have parted as that allows the air cleaner to raise up and spew oil out the return pipe....

Better get busy and de grease it all A.S.A.P. , failure to do so will cause the diesel contaminated oil to attack and destroy all rubber and platic parts (including the suspension bushings) rather quickly .
