Right , I get that ;
Mercedes uses decent quality key locks so you have to spend time and effort to find a real Locksmith who will look at it and try instead of saying " I'm too lazy or not properly trained " .
They're out there , just takes some time to find them .
Q. : have you yet bought an original key from The Mercedes Classic Center ? . I have done so for all but one of my old Mercedes' and this plus some graphite makes the old locks work perfectly .

Oh and the locksmith said he could not do it because it was double sided. And then the next mobile locksmith said he couldn't do it because it was too old. I'm not sure if either answer is correct it seems they both aren't quite right.

Subject:[diesel_mercedes] W-116 Trunk Lock
Before drilling , maybe have a locksmith take a look at it ? .
Once opened it's easy to remove the lock cylinder proper .
Silly question : have you removed the rear seat , disconnected the green vacuum pipe and applied vacuum to it whilst some one tries opening the trunk ? .

Because you can't lift up the back seats and no amount of lubricating oil has worked I am at the point of drilling the lock out.
Thanks and your good thoughts are appreciated!
