No ;
I don't think that a wise plan , just ride it out for now .
The Reciprocal Framistan Mercedes built & installed under license from Spagthorpe , should take up any excess slack in the cross bars .

[diesel_mercedes] Re : Tools & Mechanics
Bill ;
1st ; thank you for your Service .
I have little patience for those who borrow tools , Tom is working on getting me to change this as we often do my Physical Therapy in junkyards where I'll find a thing (Sat. it was an original GM underhood light & reel made by Hobbs, I'm sure you understand) so then I have to borrow a tool.......
I'd rather stop what I'm doing and use my tools for you than loan my tools out .
Occasionally I allow folks to work on their rigs in my yard , I still don't loan tools .
Like you said : the correct tool just falls to your hand , it may not be new nor fancy but all my tools are carefully selected .

Yes, I supose it is cigar shaped ,off the filter. I do or did have a new one in a box of mercedes stuff. I have as extra.

Re: [diesel_mercedes] Here Comes Summer.........
I only use air if over 90 degrees here.I hate giving my hard earned money to the power company.I painted my garage's metal roof with Kool Seal too.What a difference.On my house I went with two layers of shingles.I did not remove 1st layer.So actually I'm warmer in winter but cooler in summer. |
[diesel_mercedes] Here Comes Summer.........
And I live in an un air conditioned house too .
Last October , the wind came up and removed most of my roof so I had it re done in a single coating foam membrane typ of stuff , sprayed on about 1" thick then painted over with a glossy white stuff as a UV barrier .
Already I can tell the difference , it's *much* cooler in my house than it used to be on sunny days .
Yesterday Tom and I were out in Sun Valley buying new work clothes and I noticed the 1930's sharecropper's shack still in use on that property , had it's sloped shingle roof also painted in that white stuff (NOT the foam) ~ the shingle roof was prolly installed during the Cuban Missle Crises and so looked pretty rough & bumpy but , the white coating will no doubt help make life tolerable inside instead of the living hell most of us older folks suffer with .
I just throw this out there as I'd wanted to give it a try for many years and I'm glad it works as I'd hoped .
Less heating cost in January too ! .

[diesel_mercedes] Re : Oil & Fluid Hose moisture
In ALL cases ;
Anything on the outside of a flexible hose means it's Kaputi and just waiting to do you dirt .
On a Mercedes there are two of these oil cooler lines/hoses and BOTH need replacing whilst you're in there , it's an O.K. DIY job if you're patient and have access to a jack and safety stands etc, as you must needs remove the left side Motor Mount to get them out and back in again .
There's some tiny sheet metal clamps & supports that are held on by 6MM (10MM ATF) screws, *VERY* important to re install ! .
I can't imagine the co$t if bought locally , not too bad if purchased OnLine .

[diesel_mercedes] Re : STARTRON
Startron by Starbrite ~ sold @ Boat Shops , it's an enzyme that comes in blue plastic bottles & jugs , cheapest by the gallon .
Nothing else works quite the same no matter what the FLAPS Counter guy says .
NO confusion , just someone trying to sell you crap you don't need/want .
I need to go buy another gallon jug as SWMBO's '82 240D keep coming up with fungus , I don't know where she goes for fuel when I'm @ work .
I try to keep after it for her so she needn't touch oily nasty Diesel Fuel but , like all good Women , she doesn't need me for much of anything , she takes care of her own business when I'm not handy...

[diesel_mercedes] Re : Jobs & Old Cars
Good on ya Trish ! .
Attitude makes the whole world of difference.....
Like it or lump it , we're here so why not keep busy and make the best of whatever your situation is .
Imwork with drunks too , they're always the elephant in the room , boy howdy were they all shocked when 1/2 way through the biggest drunk's diatribe I simply said " well , at least I never come to work stinking like a distillery " .
They all fell about the place and later on came furtively up to me and thanked me as this damnfool had been making all their lives miserable for many years before I showed up .
Best of luck in the job hunt ~ maybe if you incorporate the gop will give you corporate welfare ? . that's the only handout they seem to approve of .
