Re: [diesel_mercedes] You're never going to believe this...she's running fine...Guess why
Re: [diesel_mercedes] Car wont shift into park
On a relatively cheap wear item like a bushing, you'd probably waste more time chasing it down at a PAP and end up with another worn part. Order it from the parts supplier that will have it. MBNA. Your local dealer won't have it in stock, but it usually doesn't take long for them to get it.
If what Kevin needs is the part that goes at the pivot point of the shifter, then, yes, this is not that part. I don't think the pivot bushing(s - there are two, one on each side of the shifter) are available from parts suppliers. I had to get mine from a P-A-P. Luckily, ANY Mercedes shifter of the vintage; gas, diesel, W123, 126, 116, 114/5, SL, has the same shifter. And, it's kinda rare for these bushings to fail. It should be pretty easy to come up with a good used set.Mark in Lakewood, CO

Re: [diesel_mercedes] You're never going to believe this...she's running fine...Guess why
When I was pouring the good stuff in I said "It LOOKS different".
Too bad Kevin didn't go with his gut and do this test a week ago. Oh well, we're really good at hindsight. :)
And his truck runs better too cuz he put some of my Star Tron in his tank.
I can use that other stuff in my tiller. I have about 13 gallons to use up. He's afraid to put it in his truck! :) I don't blame him. It has enough issues. Oddly enough his truck came from the same town my car came from. Hmmmm. We both did a knee jerk purchase. We'll both be much more diligent next time.
Hahaha...I just looked at NOAA and it's going to rain starting Wed all the way through Sunday night! Oh well. I have plenty of computer work to do. Without a garage or carport or tarp I won't be working on the car..for one thing, chasing down vacuum issues with door locks and other fun stuff. And with my driveway I won't be going anywhere. Or at least I'll have to get any running done on Wed before I come up the driveway. I can do that...Oooo where can I go? I haven't had the luxury of comfort and a vehicle for so long. Oh boy I can think of a zillion places I could go...It's spring, the garden center is always a good stop, need to get my heirloom tomatoes started. The feed store has baby chicks in, those are too cute to pass up. Judy his mom wants a ride and she loves thrift stores...I have a gift card I can take her to a early dinner. :)
Looking forward to Wednesday!
Good lesson though because every now and then with the hoses all at one pump, we can all go to sleep and do that very same thing. Bet it will be a long time before anyone sleeping in your bed does it again though. PS-that is what the "sniff" test is all about. Gas and diesel to smell differently. And, as someone said, "at least you got a clean tank" out of the deal.

So are you ready for this???
It was GAS!!!!!
I pulled up to the correct pump...Kevin jumped out and in his excitement he dumped $50 of GAS into my diesel MB!
I found the receipt and thought it was weird that it said "Eth Reg 10%". Kevin drove by the station yesterday morning and realized what HE had done.
He drained the tank, put in fresh DIESEL and she runs great! He's coming home tonight, we'll drop off the exhaust tomorrow morning then I'll go with him to work, get my car and head to Dan the Muffler man and I should be good to go.
He's still got to install the bushing for the front and I need to order that boot for the back that fell apart when we brushed against it on Sunday.
But as far as mechanically, it's ready!!!!!!!
WOW is Kevin happy now. Me too.
