I'll allow one of the Egnieers to explain how the pressure waves inside the primary vacuum tube alow the oil to work it's way from the engine up into the body but trust me , it happens and overhauling the vacuum pump stops it nearly dead .
If the IP's shutoff valve begins leaking , the engine will be *very* slow to stop and , your entire vacuum system will fill with oil and nasty black Diesel fuel contaminated oil will soon begin dripping out of the lower dashboard & onto SWMBO's leg as this failure will surely occurr when she's driving....
I'm *green* with envy ~ none of my cars holds vacum more than two or three days .
