[diesel_mercedes] SOLD!

Sob...or Yipee!  Not sure which.  I just sold my beloved "Rusty" (named after Ann Margaret) 1981 Mercedes Benz 300D with the turbo motor/trans.  I sure took a beating on the deal, but it appears I got taken on the car and motor anyhow, so in a way it's good riddance.  I no longer will sigh as I drive past her each day in my Nissan..that has a/c and cruise control (and a freaking electrical issue where it sets the security system when it feels like it, locking down the motor!).

I let her go for $700 which includes the original motor.  On top of that I'm being a really good seller, Kevin offered to let him borrow a flat bed car hauler from work.  He can get the motor while he's there.  In a few hours my car will be gone to it's new home.

The ironic part...within the last year we saw a little 240 for sale.  I can't remember why we didn't get out to look at it.  This guy did and he had the audacity (grin) to drive it out here yesterday!

I did learn a lot about my car.  For one thing it has blow by, really bad. Which he feels is why I'm losing so much oil...like 5 quarts in 35 miles. Also when I swapped out the original motor for the turbo I should have also done the radiator and oil cooler.  Plus a whole lot more.  Oh well.

Maybe down the road I can buy a car from my buyer.  He buys and fixes them up, has been doing it for 45 yrs.  Really nice guy.  Very knowledgeable.  I know one thing for sure, I will not have another knee jerk reaction when I buy my next car, no matter what kind it is!  Take a deep breath, take the emotion out of it, look, listen, think, walk away, then think and research.

I'll probably stay in the group just to read all of the "stories".
