The only accurate way to check you miles per gallon is to start with a full tank, run a certain distance, refill the tank, and divide the miles traveled by the gallons consummed. If you start with 3/4 of a tank, and end with 1/4, an innaccurate fuel guage can change the numbers drastically. My GMC duramax can go 68 miles before the guage moves off of the full mark. The tank holds 4 gallons past full. Can never use the guage to get accurate calculations but it is usefull for estimates.

We have had this car a bit over 3 years, but I only rarely drive it, as it is mostly driven by my wife. Recently I drove it up there. When I left it had 3/4 of a tank of fuel. I used only 1/8 of a tank on that trip. Then I went back up there, back to Idabel, then back up to his place , and returned home, 6 mile out of Haworth, Okla. A trip a bit over 200 miles. When I left it had a hair under 1/2 a tank, when I got back home, the neede was a hair above 1/4 tank.
