Re: [diesel_mercedes] Re : Those plastic top radiators.

Brian keeps a 2" or 3" copper pipe in each car which can be used for emergency purposes to repair the break and get you another 50,000 miles. I now have 83C and 175F radiators and smile on hot days. Hooray for MB coolant, Water Wetter, and cleaning the crud out  every two years.

Well Rob ;

The simple fact is :

Germans apparently developed bio - degradable plastics and many engines have been ruined when the plastic radiator's top hose connector simply snapped off without any warning....

This occurred to my Coupe twice , different cars each time , I gave the radiators to Brian who repaired them but last I heard , he was unable to get anyone else to use them...

I willingly spent $5Kon my rebuilt engine , I'd be a trifle upset if my $250 radiator caused a repeat .
