FWIW,I think you'd see steam coming out the exhaust if you had a hole/crack in the head. The test is very simple , a device fitted in lieu of the radiator cap is filled with yellow liquid & the engine started , goose the throttle and if the liquid turns purple , you've got a combustion leak .
