Yeah I know I know...it wasn't a deal at all. I had a knee jerk reaction to my old car over heating 2x in one week, the last time it was 115 and I had to wait over an hour for Kevin to come rescue me...and for the first time in a year I was wearing a dress! I was so po'd at that car I sold it...(total disclosure!) then bought this car...then jumped on the motor. Shoulda popped the top on the other motor to see if I had actually thrown a rod and repair it if possible. Not that I'd not still have car issues...but I can live with the light show and now that I'm aware of the possibility of the hazards screaming at me no problem. It's the motor I've always been more concerned about. I must have reliability. I don't know about others but I hate working on my car, so does Kevin. Oh back when I tinkered with a '67 Mustang it was fun and on other vehicles, but neither of us is into being a grease monkey any more. That's why in '95 I bought my first brand new car, so I wouldn't have to mess with it.

Oh well. This too shall pass and I'll be far more educated. I'm looking for a MB to love that will love me back.

I wonder why we keep buying "the bargains" that turn out to not be bargains unless we just love working on a car forever.. That much oil up there usually means blo-by and a worn out engine. Is your air cleaner element soaked in engine oil? I would bet yes. Diesels will run forever if you get them to start . My 190D would start OK, run fine, , did not seem to leaK OIL, BUT HAD A oil HABIT I COULD NOT SUPPORT .Sorry about the problems with your car.Max
