Does anyone know off hand how the glow plug lamp is actuated? I have the glow
plug relay out and have the connector dangling. I want the light to tell me
when I'm holding the momentary switch if I'm making contact. If the glow plug
light lights then I know I have 12v to the main relay. If it doesn't light I
have a problem. I think my modification is better than stock. I can control
how much to give or not. With the old relay I counted to ten and started. This
way the glow light comes on(when I figure how to wire it) and I count to ten.
Not much difference and this very durable relay(not that the mercedes wasn't as
it lasted 34 years) cost 35 bucks. I have the pinouts somewhere. Not sure if
it needs to be grounded or have 12 volts applied. The wiring diagram would help
me. Lawrence Rhodes..

[diesel_mercedes] Glow plug lamp. 12v+ or ground.
[diesel_mercedes] Re: The joys of vacuum.
Ah Nate you saved me!!!
Put on the vac pump from PaP which was just aglowing when I bought it, 'twas about the only shiny bit under the hood. And this really sucks but the vac pump doesn't. So put the old one back on it sucks, and disconnected all the air lines except brown, Lo we got engine shut down. Then connected the green hose lo we still got engine shut down,
Those turkey door locks and now manually operated only. Will live with that till we get home in the spring. May try to get some hew PaP actuators on our way home. "Twas an old post of Nates that got me thinking about the locks. & I knew the old pump was sucking, but I kinda liked the shiny one which I will sell very cheap to any takers.
Tony.

Think I might go to town and buy cap screws to replace the screw, if I have any money after I leave the bar.

[diesel_mercedes] Re: Monovalve repair 84 300D
Brian, I see the wavy washer in your pix but I don't see the two regular washers (the big one and the little one). Are they there somewhere?

Suggest you get a blowup of the diagram, or look at one that is working, or take one apart at a PAP. Heck, I may even take my wifes apart tomorrow morning. Seems to me I have some pics on Picasa too, or even in this groups photo spread. Look here for "Brians xxx" as I posted 10 or 12 fix it pics in the past.

[diesel_mercedes] Having trouble getting into drive mode
Am experiencing shift to drive mode. Checked all vacuum lines.
300SD with 245K shifts into 2nd and 3rd normally but stays on 3rd and will not shift to fourth or drive. Is there any adjusments or do I need to change transmission fluid ? Thanks for any help.
