LOL!!

Three thoughts:

The Russian mud is UNBELIEVABLE and ever-present (even today on paved, city roads), and the primary reason Hitler's Operation Barbarossa was stopped dead in it's tracks, within 10-miles of Moscow.  I've never seen such a thick, sticky goo.

Now you know why Russian motorcycles are rarely sold without a sidecar.  And, are more often run in the Winter, when the mud has frozen over than in Spring or Fall.

Notice the Toyota in the second to the last photo?  Right hand drive, direct from the homeland, and very common the further east one goes in Siberia.

They're rebuilding the L.A. area freeways gangbusters ~ that stimulus money is really working out well , I can't believe how much road repair is going on right now , they'd pretty much ignored crack repairs for years & years so our freeways are badly beat up now .

Most nights they close 1/2 the lanes and get right to it so rapid progress is being made .

They're rebuilding the L.A. area freeways gangbusters ~ that stimulus money is really working out well , I can't believe how much road repair is going on right now , they'd pretty much ignored crack repairs for years & years so our freeways are badly beat up now .

What color plastic line are you pumping vacuum from & where .

In general no but , there's some wiggle room in there .

Yellow : door , truck & gas flap central locking

Green : HVAC

Brown : engine kill

A few things to look for that may or may not be the cause, but can cause similar issues are all the vacuum rubber connectors, plastic vacuum tubing, and the changeover valve. Also look at the charge lines. A question from me now, can you switch back to pump diesel while using bio diesel?

Yes, big leak, small leak, as you mentioned.

Once you know which vacuum line is bad, it shouldn't too hard to find
the leak. especially with the vacuum tools people have mentioned. Notice
the color of the tube and follow it back. The door lock vacuum tubes are
all accessible from under the driver's carpet (maybe the trunk and fuel
door too). Also, when the car is running, what vacuum system is working
or not? (locks, a/c, brakes, engine shut off) What I've noticed, is that
the door locks seem to leak more often in the unlocked position. Is
there one that acts differently then the others? Does the engine shutoff
work only when the locks are down (or up)? There's a vacuum diaphragms
at the fuel door, as well as the trunk. The A/C should be easy to test
too, as the vents either open or close, when vacuum is applied by the
A/C controls, which you can tell when the car is running, and the fan is
on. The most common leaks seem to be the A/C pods, door locks
diaphragms, the fuel door diaphragm, and for some, the vacuum tube
connectors. If you need to replace a diaphragm, replace all in that
system, as the other one's are just waiting to go also, or with the door
locks, just have them (3 total) handy to replace as needed. My A/C
vacuum system is leaking vacuum, though it's such a PITA to get in
there, that my system has been isolated by a 1 way valve, so it won't
affect the other systems. Check the easy things first...

LA Nate should have more info on that year's A/C, as he fought with his
for awhile.

OK

I took off the rear tire today and took a close look at it. Besides the tread being low it looked fine. The tires do have some miles on them and probably need replacing.

Before i took the tire off i rotated it several times, there was no unusual noises. No clicking or clunking it turned smooth and easily. 

I switch the front and back tires and went for a drive. I was on the freeway for about 2 miles, nothing. 

Could a tire that looks fine make that thumping noise when it gets hot? I think the noise did not start before until i was at freeway speeds for a half an hour. 

Could it be something other then a tire if it only happens when it's been  driven fast for awhile. 


Should i just go get new tires?





 
 

 
My 300D is making a loud thumping noise from the right rear of the car. It first started on the free way. When i pulled off the road to look under the car there was nothing amiss. When i got back on the road the noise took awhile to start back up again. The  back right CV boot does have some grease on it but the boot it self is in good shape. Also it's not a clicking sound like you hear from the front CV joint it's more of a thumping sound.

any ideas
