yeah.......
on a Military vehicle list I'm on, they sort of have a map and contact info
of willing members.
It works for socializing, and also, if you're broke down, there may be a
member near by.
On that list, you can say if you'd help, how you'd help, facilities/tools
you're willing to share, even if you have room for over night and stuff.
It was a little sticky, in that they asked for phone numbers. Some were very
hesitant to have their phone and or exact address online.
so, it could be general, with an email, and, if contacted, they'd call back
if you gave them your number in the email.
seemed at times to work well.

And toot if you are down this way too. I stopped by Rich Olaveson's today in
Mission Viejo to pick up some of his MB fluids (his MB was totaled out)
although
he may still be lurking. I have concluded that we have a lot of pretty nice
people in the group. It was sad to see a diesel head without a diesel
though.

Our pictures came out excellent. I will send you one when I get this tiny
picture thing figured out. Had a great visit at your bachelor museum and
shop /home. Love your solar panels. Good drive home. Not much snow here.
And I know it's spring/becuse I got out on the 3 cyl diesel tractor and
graded on the road today. Happy to be home for now. Max

OK, I'm having a problem up-loading pictures. They come out tiny. Never had this happen before. When I start they are normal size. Any suggestions? Max

I'm in need of a 1800 CC three main bearing engine from a pre 1967 MGB ~ also some little fiddly parts I'll come remove and opay for from most any old dead Austin Series 'B' engine , I have tools and will travel .
Plus , I need a copy of Windows XP as it looks like I'm going to have to re load the LapTop from scratch .

I'm in need of the internal typ one and I don't like to loan nor borrow tools .

[diesel_mercedes] Re : Routine Starter Service
Doug ;
The Bosch starters rarely need more than a new solenoid (nearly always this part) and new brushes and a good cleaning and greasing before re - assembly .
I almost never turn the commutator as that makes it work slower &hotter .
Just clean the commutator bars until they're shiny copper colored again and you should be good to go , unless of course the commutator as severe run out .
GM starters always need new solenoid contacts (or an hour of careful polishing) along with end bushings & brushes , the Germans , OTOH , like servicing & repairing things so they're *MUCH* better designed and built .

Tony of course is joking ;
Anyone who has ever ridden with me knows I'm a *very* safe & prudent driver .
Early (? pre '81 ?) models use vacuum cruise control ,later ones use electric .

Got home last night. Car ran like a fine sewing machine. 65 to 70 mph all
the way. Still took a really long time. Good weather all the way. Never saw
another old Mercedes till I got to Henry's. I have some pictures to post
when I can do that. Thanks, Henry for the great visit. Max
