Oops! My wife was out with my 300CD and put about a gallon of gasoline in the tank before she realized that the pump with the green handle wasn't diesel. She didn't know what to do so she filled it up with diesel and came home. The mix in the tank is about 5% gas and 95% no2 diesel. The car seems to run OK. Is this fatal? What should I do?

That's a bit better , I've still not taken the injectors out for pop testing & spay pattern look see ~ they're new but the car smokes over fueling most of the time so I'm betting they're not good .
At least it runs great .

Re: [diesel_mercedes] Replacing door seals W123 - seeking advice
PS - I was surprised to discover that the "thunk" when you close your MB doors does NOT come from having a good door seal, instead it comes from the clever engineering trick of having the male prongor enter the female prongee and center itself. Apparently all the seal does is keep rain and wind out.

Car noisy when driving interstate speeds. Can't feel air blowing around door but a lot of noise from that area. Haven't inspected the door seals with fine tooth comb but cursory glance they look OK. Wondering if they just get smashed too much over the years and lose their expansion or something, and fail to seal even though they look OK.
Thanks, y'all,
Jim

My centrifuge is a home made rig based on the set up here: http://www.burnveg.com/centrifuge-2.htm
It works well. The degree of filtering is determined by the number of times you pass your oil through the spinner. Being a bit fastidious I leave it go until no more crud or water is collected, that's less than 1 micron. A word to the wise though, you still need a water trap in your vehicle because of condensation.
If I had a thick wallet I would go for this: http://www.simplecentrifuge.com/ bigger capacity and faster.
I can't show you a pic of my FrankenFuge as it's not allowed here but basically it's the same except that in my climate I need a gear pump (salvaged from a junked truck rear lift/ramp) and the immersion heater in mine is 380v. I can take some pics if you want and send them direct.
The time taken for jeans filtering depends on the ambient temperature, I get real busy in July:-) The warmer the oil the faster it goes. Tip, when you've cut off the legs and sown up an opening sew in a string so you can haul up the leg as it becomes saturated with crud, you can do this 4-5 times prolonging their usability. I don't wash mine I just get new jeans at the flea market, I use the old filter legs as fire starters.
The electronic do dad came from: http://www.smartveg.com/shop/ though I think they are concentrating on their oil import business at this time. It's good stuff though. Ed Beggs at Plantdrive in Canada http://www.plantdrive.ca/ has a similar solution as does http://www.diesel-therm.com/vegetable-oil-kit.htm. This particular do dad just controls the mag valves which makes things very easy for me but all the heating is done with the vehicles coolant. I use a 90c thermostat and HIH and HOH for all my plumbing, I also use a push pump and a Vormax final filer and water separator (Plantdrive).
What has been the problem with your Chevy?

Hey G,
How do you centrifuge your oils? Did you make a unit? I have horrible luck with processing Bio-d and wvo for a Chevrolet, though I think the chevrolet was largely to blame. But now I want a really clean produce.
If you have pictures to post of your centrifuge arrangement that'd be wonderful.
How long does it take to filter badly fouled wvo through jeans?
Also, what kind of electronic do dad are you using to regulate oil temps?

sticky ignition switch means time to replace tumbler and maybe switch.Other than that do your blowby test, and normal used car test.If it has original flex disk time to change them.Rubber and plastic can age. --- On Fri, 3/11/11, John <KC8SIL@ARRL.NET> wrote:
