Using synthetic oil will also greatly extend the life of timing chains or belts, just because of the reduced valve train friction. They WILL need to be replaced at some point; they're all going to stretch to a point of timing problems, though it may take several hundred thousand, a million miles, or more....

I've heard from several shops,that if engine oil is changed right
new chains are not needed.
