Just use the torque converter's drain plug to draw off the excess .
Yes , too much ATF is *very* bad , it gets churned up by the moving parts & foams , allowing clutches to slip and burn out quickly .
Remember to always check your ATF when it's_HOT_ , not first thing in the morning before you've run t much , ATF expands about 10 % as it heats up .
