Something is wrong. I replaced my clutch at about 150,000 miles and the
German mechanic I went to said 240D didn't have enough power to wear the
clutch out. The previous owner had a nasty habit of "starting in second
gear" which explains that. Check your clutch position with a gauge
(home made) which you slip into the slave cylinder. Look on line for
instructions.
