I installed a new rack damper bolt yesterday, which I got from the MB
classic center. It was a fairly easy change, beyond the tight space
where the bolt is. Just remove the bolt, swap the lock nut from the old
one, put on an O-ring, and replace. Start the car, and adjust the bolt
until just when the shaking stops, which was almost all the way in, then
tighten the locknut. I noticed the new spring tip was much stiffer then
the original, and the change seems to have stopped the shakes at idle.
