My 1986 190D (standard transmission) has taken, the last few days, to suddenly revving at very high RPMs when I am driving along at speeds between 40 and 60 mph.
It happens out of the blue - and the accelerator compresses toward the floor and the engine races. I turn off the engine and coast for a few seconds, and then turn the engine back on again, and its okay for a few minutes - and then a few minutes later it starts again.
Mechanic disconnected the power steering rod today to see if that will possibly solve the problem.
Any suggestions please?
Tks
