Is your key "on" when you jumper?

Nate,

Thanks

I jumpered the 2 red wires (the 2 on the ends). The starter cranks, but the car itself did not start. It starts with the key. Possible causes

1) The screws and wires are kinda rusty. Will clean and try again.

2) I used a paper clip, straightened out and then bent at the edges, holding it between needle-nose pliers. I know you said 'unbent paper clip' . Maybe the straightened one did not carry enough current for the starter?

I don't need this currently , but this is a great one to have in the bag of tricks.

Ty.
